October 2014 President’s Letter

Dear Zonta Friends,

In October, we welcome a change of seasons with beautiful fall colors everywhere you look. There is something about the sunlight that brings a clearer focus to the outdoors, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy cool, crisp days. October is also a month to re-commit to a cause championed by Zonta: domestic violence prevention.

Nationwide, this is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Zonta Says No advocacy project, developed by Zonta International, is an effective voice against domestic or gender violence, which impacts women and girls of every race, culture, ethnicity, and socio-economic position. The Zonta Says No advocacy project has been enthusiastically supported by Zonta clubs in diverse countries on every continent. With Sharon’s leadership, our club and Zonta Area 3 clubs are actively preparing for the Zonta Says No event on November 8, 2014.

To increase our awareness as club members, the guest speaker at our October general meeting is a community advocate who has worked for many years in this field.

I hope you enjoy all the pleasures of autumn, and that you will attend the October 23 general meeting at the University Club.

Warm regards,
Suzanne
