Membership Update

Just a reminder to all Club members: Please let Carol J. know of any guests you would like to receive an invitation to an upcoming meeting. November is a great month to have guests – especially since we have our holiday party in December and Amelia Earhart function in January. Brad Wood from Central Visitation will be our guest speaker in November and it’s always interesting for our guests to hear first-hand from the organizations we support. So, keep those cards and letters coming to cljohnson303@msn.com We look forward to officially having Brooke Granville join our Club at the November meeting. Brooke has worked on many service projects and we look forward to her initiation this month.

Service Update

SafeHouse holiday mailing on Monday, November 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., or Tuesday, November 24, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the SafeHouse administration offices on Downing. Contact Ginni Dickinson at ginnid20@gmail.com or Shannon Boltz at SafeHouse sboltz@safehouse-denver.org to volunteer.

Freedom Service Dogs graduation on Saturday, December 5, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Hampden Hall. Contact Barb Anders to volunteer.

Empowerment: The women at the Lowry Apartments have requested the “Zonta Ladies” to return to lead activities at the Lowry Apartments monthly. Many of you may recall that our club refurbished the social room at the Lowry Apartments several years ago to encourage the ladies to socialize. Lois Britton and Kim Hutchins co-chaired this project, coming up with fun activities each month, including a Halloween party, holiday party, annual birthday party, summer outing, or just playing bingo with the ladies. Advocacy Update

for all their hard work on the Advocacy Committee over the last year. Because of their efforts, the Zonta Club of Denver II won the District 12 Advocacy award for the 2014-2015 year!

Finance Update

The Club’s annual holiday sales of poinsettias, greenery, Koeze’s products and Jerry’s Nuts and candies are in full swing. If you missed your emailed sales packets and instructions, please contact Pat Congleton or Ellen Fitzpatrick. Also, the order forms and product pictures will soon be available on the website under the Fundraising page.

‘TIS THE SEASON… As you know, this is the Club’s second major fundraiser of the year, and we depend on the monies raised from the holiday sales to fund our many projects. And, the deadlines for placing orders are fast approaching! SELL, SELL, SELL!

Holiday products will be arriving at the designated warehouse on December 2, 2015, and member pick up will be Thursday, December 3, 2015. If you are unable to pick up your orders on Thursday, December 3, 2015, please make arrangements with Pat Congleton (pcongleton@comcast.net), Ellen Fitzpatrick (ellenfitz4@comcast.net), or Jeannie Snider (jsnider2010@yahoo.com). Watch for more information from the Finance Committee with details about the warehouse location, volunteer opportunities, and pick up times

Program Update

PLEASE NOTE –

NOVEMBER:  November’s meeting is a week early due to Thanksgiving. The meeting date is November 19, 2015. At this month’s meeting our guest speaker will be Brad Wood, Executive Director of Central Visitation. Also, we will be inducting Brooke Granville as a new member. Please let Emma Hanson know no later than Monday, November 16 by 12:00 noon, if you are unable to attend.

DECEMBER:  The Zonta Club of Denver II Holiday Party will be held on December 11, 2015, 6’ish pm, at Pat Congleton’s home, 5177 S. Perry Street, Littleton, Colorado. More details will be forthcoming.

JANUARY: The combined Amelia Earhart / Area 3 meeting will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 and will be hosted by the Douglas County club.   More details to follow.
