December 2014 President’s Letter

From a poem by John Greenleaf Whittier:

The Joy of Giving
Somehow not only for Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.

Dear Zonta friends,

My wish in this holiday season is that each of you experience the joy that comes back to you from all of the joy that you give to others. Our members have touched the hearts of many in our community through recent activities: preparing a Thanksgiving dinner for youth of Bridging the Gap, with delicious food served with warmth and caring; creating a holiday tradition for the girls at Excelsior who decorated their own Christmas stockings, so that they can experience some of the excitement and anticipation of the season; donating a new TV to Empowerment, and finding just right gifts for children of the women in the AIDS group. These gifts of our time and resources say to the recipients that their lives matter.

There is much in store for us in 2015, when we lead off with a special luncheon on January 24, at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, to honor the Amelia Earhart fellowship recipients who are graduate students at the University of Colorado. Our club is also hosting the annual Area 3 meeting which will be held before the luncheon, where we will have the opportunity to share ideas about enhancing our clubs’ effectiveness and providing a rewarding experience for all members. You won’t want to miss this combined event!

Warm regards,

Suzanne
